...by the sacrament of Confirmation, [the baptized] are more perfectly bound to the Church and are enriched with a special strength of the Holy Spirit. Hence they are, as true witnesses of Christ, more strictly obliged to spread and defend the faith by word and deed. - Dogmatic Constitution on the Church (Lumen gentium), 11

youth CONFIRMATION 2023-2024
The Church specifies that confirmands be “suitably instructed, properly disposed, and able to renew their baptismal promises.” With these goals foremost in our minds, the preparation program for Confirmation includes Rite of Welcome, formation sessions, service expectations, a retreat, and rehearsal. Our program for Confirmation is a one year program (preceded by previous religious education) beginning in the fall and culminating with the celebration of the sacrament in winter/spring of the 10th grade year. One must be enrolled in 10th -12th grade to participate. No one under the age of 16 and/or at least in 10th grade will be confirmed in the Evansville Diocese.

CONFIRMATION NAME/ SAINT RESOURCES
It is custom to take a Confirmation name. Candidates whose given/Baptism name is not Christian should choose a Confirmation name from the names of the canonized saints. Other candidates may choose a Confirmation name or use their Baptismal name to reinforce the connection between their Baptism and Confirmation. Whether it is a new name or their given name, candidates should have a good knowledge of the saint (even if they have chosen the name in honor of a relative or friend) and know they can turn to their saint for their intercession and example. If you don’t have a confirmation patron saint in mind yet, there are many resources you can use to find more information about their lives. SERVICE IDEAS
The work of a Christian is to serve others. Get involved! There is not a required number of hours, but seek out lots of ways to be God's hands in this world. Be prepared to share your experiences in your letter to the Bishop later in the year. Make a goal of doing something with your sponsor! Check with the parish for projects (volunteer to help at parish events/socials, participate in youth ministry service events (mission trips, raking leaves, fundraisers, Youth Ministry Planning Team, etc.), assist in Religious Ed classes, retreats, and activities, help with babysitting for adult programs, help with butchering/dressing-making for men's and ladies clubs, cleaning/grounds keeping projects, etc.) Watch the bulletin for things that may come up! Check on your neighbors - how are they doing? do they need anything? (groceries, lawn care, someone to talk to, etc.) Write a Letter to an Elder- Letters of Love Write Letters to Soldiers Clean up your neighborhood Donate blood Collect canned food or other items to donate Contact your school for projects they may need help with See what these places might need...
